Proline Flowmeter Installation: 15-Step Operation Guide

The Proline series flowmeter is designed with the concept of “simply clever”, making the installation process simple and efficient. This article is intended for engineering technicians and procurement personnel, outlining 15 key installation steps to help you quickly complete on-site deployment.

Pre-Installation Preparation

Tool and Condition Confirmation

  • Confirm that the pipe size, medium type, and flow range match the instrument specifications.
  • Prepare common tools: wrench, gasket, flange bolts, and torque wrench.
  • Check that the instrument appearance is free of damage and the wiring terminals are intact.

Installation Location Selection

  • Prefer a location with sufficient straight pipe sections, avoiding interference from elbows and valves.
  • Ensure the pipe is full, avoiding bubbles or sediment affecting measurement.
  • Reserve enough space for wiring and future maintenance.

15-Step Installation Process

  1. Close the upstream and downstream valves of the pipeline, release pressure, and drain the medium.
  2. Weld or install the corresponding flange according to the instrument flange specifications.
  3. Clean the flange sealing surface and place the gasket.
  4. Hoist the flowmeter into position, ensuring the flow direction arrow matches the pipeline.
  5. Tighten the flange bolts symmetrically, tightening in diagonal order in stages.
  6. Use a torque wrench to reach the specified torque value.
  7. Connect the grounding wire to ensure reliable grounding of the instrument.
  8. Connect the power and signal cables according to the wiring diagram.
  9. After checking that the wiring is correct, restore pipeline pressure.
  10. Slowly open the upstream valve and observe for leaks.
  11. Fully open the downstream valve to ensure full-pipe flow.
  12. Power on and start, entering the instrument initialization interface.
  13. Perform zero calibration according to the medium parameters.
  14. Set the range, output signal, and alarm thresholds.
  15. Record the installation data, complete commissioning, and put into operation.

Key Parameters and Precautions

Installation Parameter Reference

ItemRecommended Value/RequirementDescription
Upstream straight pipe section≥5DNAvoid turbulence interference
Downstream straight pipe section≥3DNEnsure stable flow state
Flange bolt torqueAccording to manufacturer specificationsPrevent leakage or damage
Grounding resistance≤4ΩEnsure signal stability

Common Problem Avoidance

  • Wrong flow direction: Be sure to check the arrow direction before installation.
  • Sealing leakage: Bolts must be tightened evenly in a diagonal pattern.
  • Signal interference: Keep signal cables away from power cables.
  • Zero drift: Calibrate under full-pipe and static conditions.

Summary

By following the above 15-step process, the Proline flowmeter can achieve fast and reliable installation. Correct selection, standardized operation, and careful commissioning are the keys to ensuring long-term stable operation.
