E+H Mass Flowmeter Overview

E+H mass flowmeters generally refer to the Coriolis mass flowmeters produced by E+H, which can simultaneously measure mass flow, density, temperature, and viscosity. This multivariable measurement capability makes them highly favored in industrial processes.

Coriolis Measurement Principle

Coriolis mass flowmeters operate based on the Coriolis effect. Each flowmeter contains one or more measuring tubes that form a vibrating system, which is artificially excited to vibrate.

Working Process

  1. When fluid flows through the measuring tube, the fluid inertia generates forces acting on the measuring tube wall.
  2. Two phase sensors detect the temporal and spatial changes in the vibration of the measuring tube, i.e., the “phase difference”.
  3. The phase difference directly corresponds to the mass flow measurement value.

In addition, the fluid density can also be measured based on the vibration frequency of the measuring tube. A temperature sensor outside the measuring tube wall measures the tube temperature for temperature compensation, and the process temperature can also be provided as an output signal.

Main Advantages

  • Universal measurement principle: suitable for liquids and gases.
  • Multivariable measurement: simultaneous measurement of mass flow, density, temperature, and viscosity.
  • High measurement accuracy: typical value ±0.1% o.r.; optional ±0.05% o.r. (PremiumCal).
  • Unaffected by fluid physical properties and flow field, ensuring stable and reliable measurement.
  • No upstream/downstream straight pipe length requirements, easy installation.

Typical Application Industries

The Coriolis measurement principle is widely used in various industries, including:

  • Life sciences
  • Chemicals
  • Petrochemicals
  • Oil and gas
  • Food

In addition, it can also be used in custody transfer applications.

Measurable Fluids

Coriolis mass flowmeters can be used for almost all fluid measurements, such as:

  • Cleaning liquids, solvents, fuels
  • Crude oil, vegetable oil, animal fats
  • Rubber, silicone oil, alcohol
  • Fruit jelly, toothpaste, vinegar
  • Ketchup, salad dressing
  • Gas or liquefied gas
