Measurement Principle

The probe of VEGACAP 66 and the container wall form the two plates of a capacitor. When the material rises and contacts the probe, the dielectric constant of the medium changes, and the capacitance changes accordingly. The internal circuit of the instrument detects this change and converts it into a switching output.

Installation and Commissioning Steps

Installation Points

  • The installation position should avoid the inlet and agitator to prevent the probe from being impacted.
  • For adhesive media, it is recommended to use a probe with a shielded section and install it vertically.
  • Ensure there is no insulating layer between the container wall and the probe; otherwise, a grounding electrode must be used.

Commissioning Process

  1. Confirm that the supply voltage matches the instrument nameplate, then connect the power.
  2. Perform empty calibration in an empty tank so that the output is in the uncovered state.
  3. Add material into the container until it covers the probe, and perform full calibration.
  4. Check whether the switching action is normal and adjust the sensitivity if necessary.
  5. Record the calibration results and lock the parameters.

When selecting a model, it is necessary to clarify the medium characteristics, process temperature and pressure, output type, and connection method. For corrosive media, PTFE or ceramic probes should be selected; for high-pressure applications, the process connection rating must be confirmed.
