Product Overview

VEGAFLEX 83 is a guided wave radar level transmitter for continuous level measurement, suitable for liquids and solid bulk materials. It adopts the time domain reflectometry (TDR) principle, transmitting high-frequency pulses through a guided wave cable or guided wave rod to achieve high-precision level detection.

This instrument is widely used in chemical, water treatment, food, and pharmaceutical industries, and is especially suitable for media with low dielectric constants or complex conditions involving steam and dust.

Main Features

  • High-precision measurement: resolution up to ±1 mm, repeatability ±1 mm.
  • Wide measuring range: maximum measuring distance up to 75 m (depending on the guided wave cable type).
  • Multiple process connections: thread, flange, clamp, etc., adapting to different installation requirements.
  • Temperature and pressure resistance: process temperature -40 … +250 °C, process pressure -1 … +40 bar.
  • Output signals: 4 … 20 mA/HART, Profibus PA, Foundation Fieldbus.

Installation Guide

Installation Steps

  1. Confirm that the vessel flange or threaded connection size matches the instrument process connection.
  2. Insert the guided wave cable or guided wave rod vertically into the vessel, avoiding contact with the inner wall or agitator.
  3. Tighten the process connection to ensure reliable sealing.
  4. For solid bulk materials, it is recommended to use a guided wave cable and install a fixing ring.
  5. When wiring, pay attention to power supply polarity and shield grounding.

Precautions

  • The installation position should avoid the feed inlet and vortex areas.
  • The end of the guided wave cable must be fixed to prevent swinging.
  • If the medium is prone to adhesion, clean the guided wave rod regularly.

Commissioning and Operation

The VEGAFLEX 83 can be commissioned via the display module or PACTware software. The basic steps include:

  1. Power on and wait for the instrument self-test.
  2. Enter the menu and select the medium type (liquid/solid).
  3. Set the upper and lower range limits and the corresponding output current relationship.
  4. Perform interference echo suppression (empty tank calibration).
  5. Save the parameters and exit.
