Installation and Configuration Steps
Correct installation is the key to ensuring stable operation of the Profibus network. Please follow the steps below:
- Confirm that the bus trunk is properly terminated and the T-Piece is located at the branch point.
- Connect the T-Piece to the trunk line and connect the branch device.
- Decide whether to enable the terminal resistor according to the branch length and baud rate.
- Check that all connectors are tightened and the shield is well grounded.
Note: The branch line length should be as short as possible, and the baud rate limits must be referenced (see the table below).
Terminal Resistor Configuration and Branch Length Limits
Terminal resistors are used to eliminate signal reflection. T-Pieces usually provide switchable resistors. When the branch node is at the end of the bus, the terminal resistor must be enabled; for intermediate nodes, it should be disabled. Branch length is closely related to baud rate, and the specific parameters are as follows:

- Check whether it has a terminal resistor and toggle switch.
- Consider the protection rating to adapt to the on-site environment.
Usage Precautions
- Avoid using long branches at high rates.
- Ensure the shield layer is continuous to reduce electromagnetic interference.
- It is not recommended to use a T-Piece in the middle of the trunk line; daisy-chain connection is preferred.
