Working Principle and Core Advantages

When fluid flows through a bluff body, alternating vortices are generated downstream, and their frequency is proportional to the flow velocity. The transmitter detects this frequency through piezoelectric or capacitive sensors and converts it into 4-20mA or pulse output.

  • No moving parts: Good long-term stability and low maintenance.
  • Wide turndown ratio: Usually up to 1:10 to 1:20.
  • Wide range of applicable media: Liquids, gases, and steam can all be measured.
  • Flexible output: Supports 4-20mA, pulse, RS485, etc.

Installation Requirements and Precautions

Piping and Straight Pipe Sections

To ensure measurement accuracy, sufficient straight pipe sections are required upstream and downstream of the installation point. Usually upstream ≥10D, downstream ≥5D (D is the pipe inner diameter). If there are elbows, valves, or other disturbing parts, the straight pipe sections should be lengthened.

Installation Direction

  • Liquid: Vertical installation is recommended, with fluid flowing from bottom to top to ensure a full pipe.
  • Gas: Horizontal installation is recommended, with the transmitter facing upward to prevent condensate accumulation.
  • Steam: Horizontal installation, with the transmitter facing downward or sideways, and a condensate tank installed.

Environment and Vibration

Avoid installation in locations with strong vibration, strong electromagnetic interference, or severe temperature changes. If necessary, add support brackets or vibration reduction measures.

Electrical Wiring and Commissioning

Wiring Steps

  1. Confirm that the power supply voltage matches the transmitter nameplate (usually 24VDC).
  2. Open the transmitter cover and connect the power and signal wires according to the terminal markings.
  3. Use shielded cables, with the shield grounded at one end.
  4. After checking that the wiring is correct, power on and preheat for 10 minutes.

Parameter Settings

Set the pipe inner diameter, medium type, range, and output mode through the hand-held communicator or panel buttons. Some models support self-diagnostics and empty pipe detection.
