7F2C Vortex Flowmeter Sensor Overview

7F2C vortex flowmeter adopts the Karman vortex principle and is used to measure the volumetric flow of gas, steam, or liquid. Its sensor part has a compact structure and outputs a pulse signal proportional to the flow rate, making it easy to connect with display instruments or control systems. This article briefly explains the sensor's technical features, installation, and maintenance points.

Working Principle

When fluid flows through the bluff body (vortex shedder) in a vortex flowmeter, vortices are alternately generated on both sides, and the vortex frequency is proportional to the flow velocity. The sensor detects the vortex frequency to calculate the flow rate.

  • Karman vortex street: Vortices separate alternately, and the relationship between frequency f, flow velocity v, and bluff body width d is f = St * v / d.
  • Detection method: 7F2C uses a piezoelectric sensor to detect the pressure fluctuations generated by vortices.
  • Output signal: Pulse frequency signal, convenient for remote transmission and accumulation.

Installation Steps and Precautions

Correct installation is key to ensuring the measurement accuracy of the 7F2C sensor. Please follow the steps below.

  1. Select installation location: Avoid vibration, strong electromagnetic interference, and high-temperature radiation, and ensure the pipeline is filled with fluid.
  2. Ensure straight pipe sections: At least 15D upstream and at least 5D downstream (D is the inner diameter of the pipe).
  3. Alignment and sealing: The sensor should be coaxial with the pipe, and the gasket must not protrude into the pipe.
  4. Consistent flow direction: The flow direction arrow on the sensor housing should match the fluid direction.
  5. Electrical connection: Connect the power and signal lines according to the wiring diagram, and ground the shield wire at one end.

Note: After installation, zero point calibration and parameter setting are required to ensure accurate output.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Regular maintenance can extend the sensor's life and maintain measurement accuracy.

  • Regular inspection: Check the sensor probe for contamination or damage every six months.
  • Cleaning: If the medium is dirty, clean the vortex shedder and detection element.
  • Fault phenomena: No output or unstable output; check power supply, wiring, and pipeline vibration.
  • Calibration: It is recommended to send for calibration every two years.
