CAT17 Pretreatment System Overview

CAT17 Pretreatment System is a commonly used sample pretreatment device in industrial process analysis, used for cooling, filtering, and dehumidifying high-temperature, high-humidity, dusty, or corrosive gases to ensure the measurement accuracy and service life of analytical instruments. This manual is suitable for engineering technicians, maintenance personnel, and procurement selection reference.

Installation and Connection Steps

  1. Site selection: Install the CAT17 in a location close to the sampling point and convenient for maintenance, avoiding vibration and direct sunlight.
  2. Gas path connection: Use stainless steel or PTFE tubing to connect the sample gas inlet and outlet, ensuring sealing without leakage.
  3. Cooling medium connection: Connect compressed air or cooling water according to the manual requirements, with pressure controlled at 0.3~0.6 MPa.
  4. Electrical wiring: Connect the power supply and signal lines, ensuring reliable grounding.
  5. Inspection: Perform a leak test before introducing sample gas to confirm no alarms.

Parameter Settings and Commissioning

Temperature Setting

According to the sample gas dew point and working conditions, set the cooling temperature through the temperature controller. It is generally recommended to set it at 2~5°C. Avoid setting it too low to prevent freezing and blockage.

Flow Adjustment

Adjust the sample gas flow to the range required by the analyzer (e.g., 1~5 L/min). Too high a flow will reduce the cooling effect, while too low a flow will cause slow response.

Alarm Thresholds

Set alarm values for temperature, flow, and filter differential pressure in the controller to facilitate timely detection of abnormalities.

Daily Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Maintenance Points

  • Regularly drain condensate water, recommended once per shift.
  • Check the filter element and replace it when the differential pressure exceeds 0.1 MPa.
  • Clean the heat exchanger quarterly to prevent scaling.
  • Calibrate the temperature sensor and flow meter annually.

Common Faults

SymptomPossible CauseCorrective Action
High outlet dew pointInsufficient cooling temperature, excessive flowLower temperature, reduce flow
Poor condensate drainageBlocked drain valveClean or replace the drain valve

Selection and Procurement Recommendations

When purchasing the CAT17 pretreatment system, it is necessary to clarify the sample gas composition, temperature, pressure, flow, and environmental conditions. If the sample gas contains corrosive media, PTFE-coated or all-PTFE gas paths should be selected. For explosion-proof occasions, models with Ex d certification are required. It is recommended to request the original Chinese manual and certificate of conformity to ensure after-sales service and spare parts supply.
