TMT84 Temperature Transmitter Overview

Installation and Wiring Guide
Mechanical Installation
The transmitter can be installed directly in the temperature sensor junction box, or fixed to a pipe or wall using a bracket. Ensure the installation location is away from strong vibration and heat sources, and leave sufficient space for wiring and maintenance.
Electrical Wiring
- Open the transmitter housing to expose the terminals.
- Connect the corresponding terminals according to the sensor type (refer to the label inside the housing or the manual).
- Connect the PROFIBUS PA bus cable to the terminals marked "PA+" and "PA-", paying attention to polarity.
- Tighten the cable gland to ensure sealing, then close the housing.
Note: When used in hazardous areas, intrinsically safe wiring regulations must be followed, and certified bus cables and power isolators must be used.
Configuration and Commissioning Steps
Complete the configuration and commissioning of the TMT84 through the following steps:
- Connect the transmitter to the PROFIBUS PA network and ensure the bus terminating resistors are correctly set.
- Use a configuration tool (such as Siemens PDM, FieldCare) to scan the bus and identify the device.
- Set the device address (1~126) and ensure it matches the master station configuration.
- Select the sensor type, connection method (2/3/4-wire), and range.
- Perform zero and span calibration, or use the sensor trim function.
- Download the parameters to the transmitter and verify whether the measured value is normal.
Common Faults and Troubleshooting
- No bus communication: Check bus polarity, terminating resistors, and power supply voltage.
- Large measurement deviation: Confirm that the sensor wiring is correct and check whether the sensor is damaged or needs calibration.
- Device cannot be configured: Confirm that the device address is unique and that the configuration tool matches the device description file.
- Explosion-proof area alarm: Check whether intrinsic safety parameters exceed limits and ensure certified associated equipment is used.
Maintenance and Care Recommendations
Regularly check the sealing of the transmitter housing and cable connections to avoid water ingress or corrosion. It is recommended to perform calibration every 12 months to ensure measurement accuracy. If not in use for a long time, disconnect power and store in a dry environment.
