VEGAWAVE 63 Product Overview

VEGAWAVE 63 is a vibrating level switch launched by VEGA, specially used for point level detection of powders and granular solids. The instrument is based on the vibrating tuning fork principle. When the medium covers the tuning fork, the vibration frequency changes, thereby outputting a switching signal. VEGAWAVE 63 is widely used for high and low level alarms in silos in building materials, chemical, food, pharmaceutical and other industries.

Working Principle and Core Advantages

Vibrating Tuning Fork Detection Principle

The piezoelectric element of VEGAWAVE 63 drives the tuning fork to vibrate at its resonant frequency. When the tuning fork is covered by the medium, the vibration amplitude attenuates, and the electronic module detects this change and outputs a switching signal. This principle is not affected by the conductivity or dielectric constant of the medium, making it suitable for most solid powders.

Main Technical Features

  • Maintenance-free: no moving parts, no wear, long service life.
  • Anti-adhesion: the tuning fork structure is insensitive to sticky materials, reducing false alarms.
  • Wide application range: can measure powders with a minimum density of about 8 g/l.
  • Multiple outputs: relay, transistor, NAMUR and other outputs are optional.
  • Process connection: thread, flange and other installation methods.

Installation and Commissioning Points

Installation Position Selection

  • Avoid installing directly below the feed inlet to prevent material from directly impacting the tuning fork.
  • For side mounting, the tuning fork should be tilted downward about 15° to reduce material buildup.
  • Ensure the tuning fork extends fully into the silo and avoid installation in dead corners.

Commissioning Steps

  1. Confirm that the supply voltage matches the nameplate and that wiring is correct.
  2. Power on in an empty silo and observe the output status (usually the uncovered state).
  3. Cover the tuning fork with medium and check whether the output switches.
  4. Adjust sensitivity according to process requirements (if available).
  5. Lock the housing to ensure the protection rating.

Selection and Ordering Guide

When selecting, it is necessary to specify: process connection specifications, process temperature and pressure, output type, supply voltage, and explosion-proof requirements (if needed). VEGAWAVE 63 offers a variety of options. It is recommended to refer to the selection table in the Chinese manual. For complete information, please download the VEGAWAVE 63 Chinese Manual.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is VEGAWAVE 63 suitable for liquids?

VEGAWAVE 63 is mainly designed for solid powders and granules and is not recommended for liquids. For liquid measurement, please choose liquid models in the VEGAWAVE series.

What should be done if material adheres to the tuning fork?

Vibrating level switches are insensitive to slight adhesion. If adhesion is severe, choose a model with an anti-adhesion coating or adjust the installation position.
