VEGASON 62 Product Overview
VEGASON 62 is an ultrasonic level meter used for continuous level measurement, suitable for non-contact measurement of liquids and solid bulk materials. Its measuring range can reach 15 meters, the process temperature is up to 80°C, and the process pressure range is -0.2 to 4 bar. This instrument is widely used in water treatment, chemical, food, and building materials industries.
Working Principle
VEGASON 62 emits ultrasonic pulses through a transducer and receives the echo reflected from the material surface. The instrument calculates the level height based on the time difference between transmission and reception. This principle is not affected by changes in medium density, viscosity, etc., and is suitable for various complex working conditions.
Main Features
- Non-contact measurement: Avoids the effects of medium corrosion and adhesion.
- High precision: Measurement accuracy can reach ±0.2% of full scale.
- Wide measuring range: Maximum 15 meters, meeting the needs of various tanks.
- Easy to install: Standard thread or flange connection, simple commissioning.

Installation and Commissioning
Correct installation and commissioning are key to ensuring the measurement accuracy of VEGASON 62. Please follow the steps below.
Installation Steps
- Select the installation position, ensure the transducer is perpendicular to the material surface, and avoid the feed inlet and agitator.
- Use standard thread or flange to fix the instrument on the tank top or bracket.
- Ensure the length of the installation nozzle does not exceed 1.5 times the transducer diameter to avoid false echoes.
- Connect the power and signal cables, pay attention to polarity, and do waterproof treatment.
Commissioning Points
- After power-on, use the display module or HART handheld communicator to set parameters.
- Enter the empty tank and full tank distances to complete zero and span calibration.
- Adjust the echo threshold according to the medium characteristics to suppress interference echoes.
- Observe the stability of the measured value, and enable the false echo suppression function if necessary.
Common Applications and Selection Recommendations
VEGASON 62 is suitable for a variety of industrial scenarios. When selecting, consider the medium, temperature, pressure, and installation conditions.
Typical Applications
- Water treatment: Level measurement of sewage pools and clean water tanks.
- Chemical: Level monitoring of acid and alkali storage tanks and reactors.
- Food: Hygienic level measurement of syrup, edible oil, etc.
- Building materials: Level measurement of solid bulk materials such as cement and sand.
Selection Precautions
- Confirm whether the medium temperature is within the range of -40~80°C.
- Confirm whether the process pressure exceeds 4 bar.
- For strong dust or steam environments, it is recommended to choose a higher protection class or purging device.
- For explosion-proof occasions, please choose the corresponding explosion-proof certified model.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Regular maintenance can extend the service life of VEGASON 62. Common faults are mostly related to installation or parameter settings.
Daily Maintenance
- Regularly check whether the transducer surface is clean. If there is adhesion, wipe it with a soft cloth.
- Check whether the cable sealing joint is loose to ensure the protection class.
- Calibrate the output current every six months to ensure accurate measurement.
Common Faults and Handling
| Fault Phenomenon | Possible Cause | Handling Method |
|---|---|---|
| Large fluctuation of measured value | Agitation or feed interference | Adjust installation position or enable echo suppression |
| No signal output | Power supply or wiring problem | Check power supply and wiring polarity |
| Large deviation of measured value | Incorrect parameter setting | Recalibrate zero and span |
