The cumulative flow function of the T-mass 65 thermal mass flowmeter is used to measure the total gas flow in a pipeline. When measurement needs to be restarted or after maintenance, the cumulative flow must be reset to zero. This article introduces the zeroing method and techniques for reading large values.

Cumulative Flow Display and Overflow Mechanism

7-Digit Floating-Point Limit

The cumulative flow number consists of at most 7 floating-point digits, so the maximum single-screen display value is 9,999,999. When this value is exceeded, the OVERFLOW function must be used to observe the higher total.

Calculation of the Effective Total Cumulative Value

When the cumulative amount exceeds the display upper limit, the effective value equals the OVERFLOW function cumulative amount plus the SUM function value. The specific relationship is as follows:

  • OVERFLOW value: records the portion exceeding 9,999,999, with the same unit as the main display.
  • SUM function value: records the cumulative amount within the current 7-digit display range.
  • Effective total cumulative value = OVERFLOW + SUM.

Cumulative Flow Reset to Zero Operation Steps

Before performing the reset to zero, please confirm that the current total cumulative value has been recorded to avoid data loss. The operation steps are as follows:

  1. Enter the main menu of the T-mass 65 and select the "Cumulative Flow" or "Totalizer" function group.
  2. Find the reset to zero (Reset/Reset Totalizer) option.
  3. Press the confirm key; the screen prompts whether to zero, select "Yes" or "Confirm".
  4. After zeroing, the SUM function value returns to zero, and the OVERFLOW value is reset at the same time.
  5. Return to the measurement interface and check whether the cumulative flow starts from 0.

Precautions and Common Problems

  • The zeroing operation is irreversible; it is recommended to record the effective total cumulative value in advance.
  • If OVERFLOW has a value, confirm that the overflow value is also reset to zero after zeroing.
  • Menu paths may differ slightly among firmware versions; please refer to the actual instrument.
  • Regularly check SUM and OVERFLOW to ensure accurate reading of the cumulative amount.
