Factors Affecting the Measuring Range

The measuring range of the T-mass 65 is not a fixed value, but depends on multiple on-site conditions. Before configuring the current output range, the following factors must be clarified:

  • Type of gas being measured: The thermal conductivity characteristics of different gases differ significantly, directly affecting the measuring range.
  • Pipe diameter: The pipe size determines the installation method of the flowmeter and the measurable flow velocity range.
  • Whether a flow conditioner is used: Working conditions with a conditioner must be considered separately.

Each T-mass 65 can be calibrated as a single instrument in an atmospheric environment, and can be converted by mathematical methods to the user-specified gas type. The measuring ranges listed in the table below are only applicable to flowmeters in an atmospheric environment without a flow conditioner.

Handling Other Gases and Process Conditions

When measuring other types of gases or when used under non-atmospheric process conditions, the measuring ranges in the standard table are no longer applicable. In this case, the following measures are recommended:

  • Consult the local Endress+Hauser sales center for targeted selection recommendations.
  • Use the Applicator selection software to determine the measuring range based on the actual gas and process parameters.

To ensure that the instrument achieves the best measurement performance, it is recommended to perform measurement under operating conditions and control the gas flow velocity within 70 m/s. Exceeding this flow velocity may increase measurement error or damage the instrument.

Current Output Range Setting Steps

After clarifying the measuring range, the current output range of the T-mass 65 can be set according to the following steps:

  1. Enter the instrument menu and select "Output Settings" or a similar option.
  2. Find the "Current Output" parameter and select the "Range" setting.
  3. Enter the flow value corresponding to 4 mA (usually the lower range limit).
  4. Enter the flow value corresponding to 20 mA (usually the upper range limit).
  5. Confirm and save the settings, and perform a loop test if necessary.

Note: The upper and lower range limits must be set according to the actual measuring range to avoid exceeding the measurable range of the instrument and causing saturated output.
