TMT181 Temperature Transmitter Wiring Guide
The TMT181 is a commonly used temperature transmitter that supports thermocouple and RTD inputs. Correct wiring is key to ensuring measurement accuracy and stable instrument operation. This article provides a detailed introduction to its power supply wiring and sensor wiring methods.
Power Supply Wiring
The TMT181 uses a two-wire power supply, where the power supply and signal output share two wires. Depending on the explosion-proof type, the supply voltage range varies:
- Non-explosion-proof instruments: voltage range 10-35 VDC
- Explosion-proof instruments: voltage range 10-30 VDC
The power terminals are 1+ and 2-, which connect to the positive and negative poles of the DC power supply, respectively.
Sensor Wiring
The TMT181 can be connected to a thermocouple or RTD. The terminal assignments for different sensor types are as follows:
Thermocouple
The thermocouple terminals are 4+ and 6-, which connect to the positive and negative poles of the thermocouple, respectively.
RTD
The wiring method for an RTD varies depending on the wire configuration:
- Two-wire RTD: connect to terminals 3 and 6.
- Three-wire RTD: one end connects to 3, and the two wires at the other end connect to 5 and 6, respectively.
- Four-wire RTD: the two wires at one end connect to 3 and 4, and the two wires at the other end connect to 5 and 6.
When wiring, ensure that the terminals are securely connected to avoid measurement errors caused by loose connections.

Wiring Precautions
- Please wire strictly according to the terminal markings to avoid reverse power connection.
- Use shielded cables and ground them at one end to reduce electromagnetic interference.
- Explosion-proof instruments must be powered in a safe area and comply with explosion-proof regulations.
- After wiring is complete, check insulation and continuity before powering on for commissioning.
